Hoang Thuc Hao is the first Vietnamese architect to win the 2016 SIA-GETZ Award and major UIA prizes. He proposed the philosophy of architecture of happiness: architecture is not simply about making space, it can bring justice and happiness.
Hoang Thuc Hao and colleagues established 1+1>2 Architects in 2003 with a commitment to people, ecological diversity, and cultural diversity.
Hoang Thuc Hao has been recognized by the SIA-GETZ Award 2016, Vassilis Sgoutas Prize 2017, and Robert Matthew Prize 2023, alongside other green and community architecture awards.
He teaches and researches sustainable, vernacular, community-centered architecture and rural futures.
